Sometimes accused witches were given a test to prove their innocence; however, the tests were not scientific: with an accused witch’s legs and arms tied, they were dropped in water, and it was then believed if the person sank they were innocent and if they floated they were guilty.

In the modern day, witches are still a thing; however, at least in the Western world, they are no longer feared or seen as the evil they were in the past.
